When I made the decision to return to school and further my education, I did not realize the sense of accomplishment that would come with each milestone. Thus far I have achieved both becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse as well as as graduating with my Associate Degree in Nursing. Following graduation, I sat for the National Council Licensure Exam (NCLEX) and became a Registered Nurse.
My short-term goals are the pavement for the road to my long-term goals. My first goal is to complete my Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the Auburn University School of Nursing in the Summer of 2023. While doing so, I am working shifts in both the Emergency Department and the Medical Intensive Care Unit to grow my nursing skills and gain experience as a clinical nurse. Also, I will be taking a course this summer to become an Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse. In addition, I am maintaining my leadership role as director of oncology to ensure I have a well-rounded view of healthcare.
My long-term goal is to complete a Master of Science in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner, specializing in oncology care. I will begin that journey in the Fall of 2023 at Troy University, where I have been accepted to the MSN/NP Program. My desire is to be able to provide care with compassion as well as thorough education to patients. With this education, I can be a valuable asset to the healthcare community. Ultimately, I want my contribution to the nursing profession and to healthcare to have a positive impact on patient care.
